Claydon Estate Farm
Farming enterprises on the Estate have traditionally been a mixture of livestock and arable production and there has always been a Home Farm managed in-hand by the Estate.
Currently the in-hand farm extends to 2,000 acres of which 1,800 acres is utilised to grow a variety of crops including Wheat, Oats, Oilseed Rape and Beans. The remaining grassland is grazed by stock owned by Tenant farmers on the Estate.
Careful attention is given to the ecological and habitat value of the land and a number of conservation headlands and field margins have been established. Hedgerows and historic ponds have also been reinstated to improve the wildlife biodiversity and habitat quality of the Estate. Further details of the conservation work undertaken on the Estate are available in the Countryside Stewardship section of this website. |
